Richard Childress Racing

Lynyrd Skynyrd Dixie was invited to Richard Childress Racing on Nov 2, 2006. Gene Odom, Bobby Sanders, William and Billy Webb toured the famed Race Shop in Welcome, NC.

Sy Earnhardt engine builder at RCR and Billy worked together at Close Racing, M&E Engines, and Panther Racing in the early 1990-1993. Sy became close friends with Gene, Bobby, and William.

Gene Odom presented Sy with the matted and framed photo "Ronnie Van Zant’s last autograph" which now hangs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland Ohio. Both Bobby and Gene are in this photograph.

Rick Mann Chief Engine Builder at RCR and Bobby are also oldtime friends.

Bobby played some Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams for the crew during break time.
